I guess saying hello is how I am suppose to start this, lol. I am extremely new to the blogging world and I am still unsure about what I will blog about daily or weekly. Right now its all up in the air but I figured I should go ahead and start with this because we all have to start somewhere, right?
If you’ve read my Learn more about me page you probably already know that my is Margaret Scott, just got married this past May so I am coming up on a one-year anniversary. If you haven’t read it, you should. I like to think I’m a pretty awesome person.
I don’t want to be referred to as a blogger because I am actually a writer, I am paid to write on a daily basis, and I will have a published book out soon. I haven’t been the biggest fan of blogs or bloggers, as a journalist I have my reason, but I do find some useful and I hope mine is as well, but that’s neither here nor there and I would never bash another blog or blogger. I figured if I am going to be an Author and I already am a published writer I should probably blog for readers.
-So, here we go-
Currently, I am the Sports Editor for the Bedford Bulletin newspaper, which is located in a small town in central Virginia. I manage all the social media accounts for the Bulletin as well as write weekly articles, columns and feature stories. I also take photographs, mostly of sports for the bulletin but sometimes of people or things for feature stories. I absolutely love this job because I was able to combine my passion of writing with my love for sports.
Outside of my career, I am a soon-to-be published author, which if you follow me here you will learn more and more about. I was blessed with the ability to write and write well. I also dabble in photography, meaning I love it but I am no professional. My best photography work comes from sports and landscapes. I also have my own etsy shop where I sell custom made postcards for any occasion. I am recently started making printables and maybe I will post some freebies on here for views to have.
I love working in design, photography and writing. So I guess you could call me an artist of sorts. I am fantastic with indesign, illustrator, photoshop, lightroom, and basically the whole Adobe Creative Suite. I am definitely not a painter or someone who can draw (I promise you don’t want to see my drawings). But writing, design and photography are all different types of art.
On to my works in progress; so as a writer my brain works a lot differently. I can be talking to someone and one word they say can give me a brilliant idea for book. Of course, not all my brilliant ideas will become books. Some are just ideas and that’s all they will be, but some ideas turn into a 200 pages novel and that is when I feel like I have accomplished something. Right now, I am writing a series, the first book has already been offered a contract, YAY. In this series it will either be a saga, trilogy or a series. I have decided yet, mostly because I let the characters go where they need to go.
In this series I have finished book one and start book two. I also have a third book in progress but it is a different book, has nothing to do with the first series. I am unsure of whether this book will be a stand alone or will be a saga, trilogy or series. I also have two other books in progress, neither relating to the ones above.
I am currently in the process of writing a children’s book and my sister-in-law is helping me with illustrations because as mentioned above I am not good at drawing. The other genre I write is romance, some erotic, explicit, some not. I am not a fan of romance books that aren’t a little down and dirty because relationships aren’t all rainbows and unicorns so I try not to make my book all rainbows and unicorns.
I hope this was a great look into a little bit of me, and trust me this isn’t everything there is to know about me. But, if you follow me I guess you will learn a lot more about me.
I guess this is where I will stop for now- I believe most of my posts will be about writing or design. Possibly even posting a few snippets of books I am working on.
